The Department
The Post-Graduate Department of Mizo, Mizoram University, established in 1997, is the only University Department in the country for Mizo Language and Literature. The Department publishes a peer-reviewed Quarterly Journal named Mizo Studies (ISSN: 2319-6041) featuring literary articles in English and Mizo on studies in Mizo language and literature, history, education, society and bio-diversity.

Aims & Scope
Mizo Studies is a quarterly, peer-reviewed (refereed), bilingual journal dedicated to the scholarly exploration of the Mizo people, their culture, and the state of Mizoram. As an academic platform equipped with unique Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for every published article, the journal serves as a critical bridge between local insights and global academic discourse.
Aims
- Promote Intellectual Dialogue:To foster high-quality, original research that deepens the understanding of Mizoram's past, present, and future.
- Bilingual Scholarship: To encourage rigorous academic writing in both English and Mizo, preserving the linguistic heritage of the region while engaging with the international research community.
- Rigorous Peer Review: To maintain exceptional academic standards through a strict, double-blind peer-review process, ensuring the dissemination of credible, impactful, and ethical knowledge.
Scope
The journal welcomes original research articles and review papers. The scope of Mizo Studies encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas related to Mizoram and the Mizo diaspora:
- Mizo Literature & Linguistics: Classical and contemporary poetry, prose, drama, folklore, oral traditions, and structural or sociolinguistic analysis of the Mizo language.
- Mizo Society & Culture: Sociology, anthropology, cultural heritage, social change, customary laws, traditional governance, and contemporary societal dynamics.
- History & Politics: Political development, colonial and post-colonial history, geopolitical studies, and public policy in Mizoram.
- Multidisciplinary Studies: Economics, environmental studies, geography, education, media, gender studies, and performing arts relevant to the Mizo context.

Peer Review Policy
All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the review process.
All submissions are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin prior to review. Manuscripts with a similarity score above the acceptable threshold are returned to authors without review.
