Review Process

Mizo Studies follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process. All submitted manuscripts that pass initial desk review are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant subject area. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.

Stages

  1. Desk Review: The Editor-in-Chief checks the manuscript for scope, format, and minimum quality. Manuscripts that do not meet basic standards are returned to authors at this stage.
  2. Plagiarism Check: All manuscripts passing desk review are checked using Turnitin. A similarity report above the acceptable threshold results in the manuscript being returned without peer review.
  3. Peer Review: The manuscript is sent to two or more expert reviewers. Reviewers are asked to submit their report within 4–6 weeks.
  4. Editorial Decision: The editor makes a decision based on reviewer reports: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
  5. Author Revision: If revisions are requested, authors are given a deadline to submit a revised manuscript and a point-by-point response to reviewer comments.
  6. Final Acceptance: Following satisfactory revision, the manuscript is accepted for publication.

  • Originality and scholarly contribution
  • Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal
  • Rigour of methodology and argumentation
